What is a database?

A Database Management System (DBMS) is a set of computer programs that controls the creation, maintenance, and the use of the database which usually ersied either on a PC or a server.

A database is an integrated collection of logically-related records or files consolidated into a common pool that provides data for one or more multiple uses.

A database is a collection of information that is organized so that it can easily be accessed, managed, and updated. In one view, databases can be classified according to types of content: bibliographic, full-text, numeric, and images.
